About Our Learning Pod

Choice in Education

This is the HIGHEST VALUE of Back to Basics Learning. We believe that parents should decide what their children are learning, and how they learn it. Back to Basics honors family choice by allowing families to choose curriculum, as well as to offer recommendations. We seek to be a partnership between families.

Individualization

Your child is special and we value his/her participation in our school. Having a small community allows for a “family-like” culture with trust and collaboration. Your child’s unique personality is taken into consideration when lessons are being created. It is essential to determine how your child learns, processes information, and communicates in an effort to grow and gain confidence.

Communication

We believe that students learn best when a teacher is a partner with the parents. Back to Basics maintains regular communications with families regarding student progress.

Balanced Approach to Learning

Back to Basics believes there should be a balance between academic learning, life skills, and play time. Students are coached and encouraged to work with dedication and excellence. Students also have ample opportunities to enjoy this time of childhood with play, draw, create, and spend time outdoors.

Faith Based Virtues

We firmly believe God is the Creator and Sustainer of Back to Basics Learning. We are not a religious organization, nor is religious instruction given to students, but we use Biblical principles for operating and maximizing your child’s positive learning environment. No family is required to use a religious curriculum, but many of our families do opt for religious curriculum.

Multi-Age Learning

We believe in creating strong family bonds. Therefore, siblings are able to attend together. In addition, students experience the benefits of multi-age learning. Studies show that multi-age learning increases student participation in their own learning, increases empathy, as well as greater collaboration and peer learning.

Enhanced Learning Environment

Students at Back to Basics Learning benefit from the small class environment which enhances the child’s learning experience! Research proves children learn faster and perform better in smaller classes. This Is a result of individual attention, increased participation, and better communication between the teacher and student!

Progress Monitoring

As children continue on their learning path, parents will be continually updated. Students will learn content in a group setting and also work independently. Back to Basics is not standards-centered, but student-centered. As the learning progression continues, students will be assessed on his/her level throughout unit studies and with individualized learning goals.
